Langkawi abounds with quiet caves and bays with entrising beaches of white sands. Sloping reefs harbour a remarkable diversity of marine life. Its waters are ideal for sailing and other activities. For snorkelling and diving enthusiasts, the Pulau Payar Marine Park is a must. The marine park encompasses the islands of Pulau Payar, Pulau Lembu, Pulau Segantang and Pulau Kaca. In the surrounding waters, a vibrant ecosystem of corals and marine creatures can be found.
Pulau Paya 's crystal clear waters make it suitable for swimming, snorkelling, scuba-diving and underwater photography. At the southwest end of the island, not too far offshore, is a breathtakingly beautiful dive spot called 'Coral Garden.' The rocky slopes here are almost completely covered with brightly-hued soft coral.
Deeper waters offer the dark green dendroid, or tree-hard corals and a multitude of sea fans and cone shells. The waters are also home to a prolific variety of sea squirts, sea slugs, hermit crabs, feather starfish, sea anemone, lion fish, barracudas, rainbow runners, rock fish and ghost fish.
